Mendy has now been accused of seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault
Benjamin Mendy has been charged with a further count of rape.
The 27-year-old has now been charged with seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to five separate women,  the BBC reported.
Mendy was officially charged last week, however due to legal reasons, this could not be reported until today (Wednesday 22 December).
The restrictions were lifted after Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court for a hearing ahead of his trial, which is due to take place in January next year.
The charges come after a complaint which was made referring to an incident which is alleged to have took place in July of this year, with the previous charges alleged to have happened between October 2020 and August 2021.
