Mendy has been remanded in custody since being charged.
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been denied bail in his ongoing court case.
The France international faces four counts of rape. The incidents all relate to three women over the age of 16, with three of the alleged attacks taking place in October 2020, and the fourth allegedly taking place just last week.
The 27-year-old also faces one count of sexual assault.
On September 1, at a behind-closed-doors hearing at Chester Crown Court, Mendy was refused bail by His Honour Judge Steven Everett.
Since he was charged, he has been remanded in custody in HMP Altcourse, Liverpool.
Mendy had also been charged with a bail offence, but the Manchester Evening News reports that this was withdrawn by District Judge Jack McGarva when the footballer appeared at the Magistrates’ court on August 27.
At the same hearing, Mr McGarva refused to grant Mendy bail. The Frenchman’s lawyer, Christopher Stables, said that his client strenuously denies the allegations.
Mendy will appear at Chester Crown Court again on September 10. He has yet to formally enter a plea.
Since he was charged with the allegations, he has been suspended by Manchester City, who he joined from Monaco in 2017. He will be suspended by the club until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
