Bolton defender instantly regretted his decision to give his jacket to a fan

Fortunately, it seems there is a happy ending to this one

You can’t blame Bolton Wanderers’ players and fans for getting a little giddy after full-time on Sunday.

Fighting for survival in the Championship, the Trotters faced relegation back to League One with minutes remaining of their final game of the season at home to Nottingham Forest.

Having taken the lead through Adam Le Fondre with little over 20 minutes remaining, Bolton conceded twice in almost ten minutes. Relegation seemed certain.

However, an equaliser from David Wheater was swiftly followed by Aaron Wilbraham’s winner – enough to preserve their Championship status; enough to send the majority of those in attendance at the Macron Stadium wild.

As supporters spilled on to the pitch to celebrate, Bolton’s Mark Little gave away his jacket to a fan, realising later this wasn’t the best of ideas…

A tweet from the former Peterborough United and Bristol City right-back later clarified that his wallet and wedding ring had been in the jacket. Explaining that he wasn’t fussed about seeing the jacket again, he made clear he wanted the wallet and ring returned.

Fortunately, this story does appear to have a happy ending.

A further tweet from Little has confirmed that he’s been reunited with his wallet…

Little confirmed in a tweet to JOE that he was yet to have the wedding ring returned by Monday night, but was hoping to pick it up on Tuesday.
