Fernandes has made 30 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring nine goals and six assists in those games and most recently featured in United’s hard-fought 3-2 win against Norwich City.
His Portuguese counterpart, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored a hat trick as United were pegged back twice at Old Trafford courtesy of equalisers from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki.
Rangnick’s side travel to Anfield knowing that not only will a win strengthen their hopes of finishing in the top four, but equally put a huge dent in Jurgen Klopp’ team’s pursuit of winning the Premier League, and quadruple.
The reverse fixture between the two saw Liverpool sweep aside United with a humiliating 5-0 victory and was one of the final games in the reign of former manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Liverpool come into the game off the back of an FA Cup semi final win against Manchester City on Saturday. The Reds raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Ibrahima Konaté and a brace from Sadio Mané in the first half.
Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva were on the scoresheet for Pep Guardiola’s side, but they were unable to find an equaliser as Liverpool advanced to the final where they will face Chelsea.
