Celtic supporters expect their club’s rumoured battle for Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson to be one sided.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers intended to fight it out with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard for Wilson’s signature.
Gerrard had apparently hoped to sign the young Reds winger on a season-long loan deal in an attempt to bolster his attacking options at Ibrox but Rodgers is not about to sit idly by and watch a player of whom he is very fond move to his side’s fiercest rivals.
Rodgers attempted to sign the Welsh international on loan last summer but the deal never came to fruition.
However, if the 21-year-old was to be made available by Jurgen Klopp in the current transfer window, it’s believed that Rodgers and Gerrard are set to go head-to-head for the youngster.
Wilson signed a new contract with Liverpool in January, before he spent the rest of last season on loan at Hull, where he scored seven goals in 14 games.
It was under Rodgers that Wilson signed his first professional contract at Anfield and if that’s not enough to give the Bhoys manager the edge in negotiations over Gerrard, perhaps an old tweet from Wilson might be the difference.
Celtic supporters have dug up a 2011 tweet from Wilson in which he apparently pledged his allegiance to the green and white side of Glasgow following an Old Firm clash seven years ago.

The particular match about which a teenage Wilson was so excited finished 1-0 to Celtic, with Joe Ledley scoring the game’s only goal.
If he ends up moving to Celtic Park on loan, his new fans will adore his early show of support to the club while we can’t see Rangers supporters being forgiving enough to excuse the above tweet.
