Spare us a tenner, Cristiano?
Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus was clearly more than just a final pay day, but the Old Lady’s massive contract offer no doubt helped the forward make up his mind to leave Real Madrid.
Various sums have been thrown around in relation to Ronaldo’s salary, but Gazzetta dello Sport have now released what they claim to be the exact figures.
According to the Italian newspaper, the Portuguese star pockets an enormous €31 million (£28m) per year after tax, which breaks down to around £538,000 a week. Not bad work, if you can get it.
Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo’s deal towers above every other player in Serie A.Â
Gonzalo Higuain is second in the list of highest earners, but his salary of £8.6m per year – around £165,000 per week – is more than three times less than what Ronaldo receives.
Paulo Dybala is next on the list, taking home €7m a year, while former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is in eighth place on €5m a year.Â
Juventus have already made a decent return on Ronaldo in a marketing sense, but will surely be hoping that he soon starts to fire on the pitch.
The forward is yet to score in Serie A, despite taking 23 shots in his three matches so far, which included another fruitless outing at Parma on Saturday.
Ronaldo moved to Turin in a record-breaking £88m move in the summer, with Juventus pinning their hopes of claiming a first Champions League title since 1996 on the 33-year-old.
