Sorry, what?
The Beckhams have never been described as frugal, but David Beckham is somehow out here trying to put paid to their lavish reputation.
In a new interview, he has said that he and wife Victoria aren’t big spenders any more now that they have four kids.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, David acknowledged that he and Victoria used to give each other expensive gifts, like cars and even houses, in their early days together but not any more.
“We used to be very extravagant in what we’d buy each other,” he said.
“But we’re obviously saving the pennies now because we have so many children to be extravagant with.
“It’s more about spending time together, going for a simple dinner together. Having a nice bottle of wine together.”
While it’s never any harm to be mindful of your outgoings, we don’t think Dave and the family have much to worry about on that.
The former footballer is reportedly worth £339 million and earned an estimated £48.9 million alone last year thanks to his various business interests.
Victoria, meanwhile, has seen huge success as a fashion designer and her personal net worth is valued at £240 million (€272 million).
In the same interview, David also said that being a dad has turned him into something of a crier.
“When you have kids you definitely become more emotional as a person.
“I definitely feel that anything that relates to me — family, the kids — that’s always something I’m going to get emotional about.
“I cried when they were born, of course.”
