Harry Kane must have expected some flak for appealing for that goal against Stoke last month.
Kane was adamant that he got the final touch on a Christian Eriksen free kick during Spurs 2-1 victory over the Potters and his insistence ultimately convinced the Premier League to award him the goal.
The Spurs centre-forward was clearly eager to make another late dash at the Golden Boot, which has looked destined for Mo Salah for some time now.
After Kane was awarded the contentious goal, which took his Premier League tally to 25 (he’s now on 27), Salah’s Liverpool teammates reacted with disbelief and the appeal has since earned Kane a new nickname among the Reds.
Salah has been swimming in awards after an incredible debut season on Merseyside and while posing with his most recent accolade, he was congratulated by defender Dejan Lovren, who couldn’t help but take a pop at Kane.
Salah asked Lovren if he’d voted for him and the Croatian centre-half replied by jokingly admitting that his “vote went to Mr. Touch’.”
Now while he’s unlikely to respond, we’re sure Kane would love to remind Lovren of what happened when Spurs played Liverpool at Wembley in October because the striker gave Lovren the runaround that afternoon.
But, on this occasion, Lovren got the last laugh.
