Everton slap surprisingly affordable price tag on Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman appears to be a man in demand

That is to say that Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig are interested in signing the England under-21 international. Lookman impressed during a loan spell at the eastern German side last season, scoring five goals in 11 appearances.

Leipzig have made their interest in signing the former Charlton player abundantly clear, and have made a number of offers throughout the summer.

Sky Sports reported this week that their most recent bid came to £22 million, almost twice as much as their original offer of £12 million, but that is likely to be rejected after it emerged that the Toffees had placed a price tag of £28 million on the 20-year-old.

If Leipzig were to match this valuation, he would become their record signing, but in truth the fee appears on the surface to be entirely reasonable.

Lookman has already proven himself to be good enough to compete in the Bundesliga, and impressed with a goal on his Premier League debut against Manchester City in January 2017.

His willingness to leave the relative comfort of English football and embark upon a road less taken for young players also suggests that such a fee would likely be repaid with his performances in years to come.
