Can’t blame them.
Since Sam Allardyce was appointed at Goodison Park, there’s no denying that he’s turned results around but could they have been any worse?
It’s somewhat fitting that Everton decided to sack Ronald Koeman after their 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal earlier this season, because Wenger’s men may have ended any prospects of Allardyce getting the job on a permanent basis. EAfter taking over at Goodison, ‘Big Sam’ signed a deal to the end of June 2019 but if these fans had their way, he might not be getting an extension.
When Allardyce took over, the Toffees were 18th in the Premier League and only won two of their opening nine league games.
At present, Everton are tenth, seven points clear of relegation. Bar a massive collapse, they’re not going to be relegated but after such heavy investment, surely that’s the bare minimum that’s required of this expensively assembled squad?
Farhad Moshiri’s fortune has seen the club spend £180million on players since last June but on the basis of today’s performance, it’s clear that the fans have no interest in watching them play if they keep delivering performances like this.
Are the players worthy of the blue jersey? After the first 37 minutes at The Emirates, these fans would disagree. Everton were atrocious as Arsenal raced into a 4-0 lead.
Truth be told, on the evidence of that first-half, it’s hard to blame them for leaving.
