Ba dum tsssshhhhh
Paul Pogba won’t be playing for Manchester United this afternoon in their FA Cup tie against Huddersfield due to illness.
The Frenchman has also been lacking in form in recent weeks, and has found himself being subbed off in games against Spurs and Newcastle, as well as starting from the bench against Huddersfield in the league two weeks ago. He may have nine assists this season, but it is hard to argue that he has played well in the past few games. The prime factor in why that is, though, is up for debate.
Regardless, he misses today’s game through illness, and has not been dropped, if he and the club are to be believed. Pogba himself confirmed reports of his absence on Twitter, explaining that he needs to ‘get better’.
Gutted I won’t be at Huddersfield but I need to get better. Come on United 👊🏾 @ManUtd

His phrasing of the tweet has done him no favours though. It’s clear that he means he has to recover from his illness before he can play again, but you can’t give that sort of opportunity to make a joke to the Twittersphere and not expect 1000 people to be all over it.
And they were.
Least he admits his poor form. Need more honesty in the game. https://t.co/O86lDIbFtk

Think he’s saying he’s ill, not just acknowledging his recent poor form. https://t.co/KjXfF4aB2w

Paul Pogba admits he’s shit but Man United fans think he’s the best midfielder in the league. https://t.co/J2n80bSETP

Like on the field, I presume you need 3 midfielders behind you to recover from illness https://t.co/VV3nGBQb0g

He’s given Twitter an open goal there, and they have made no mistake in burying the chance.
