‘We have a super cool friendship here, a super cool dressing room’
Manchester United midfielder Fred has opened up on the atmosphere in the club dressing room, insisting that all of the group get along and have a “super cool” relationship with each other.
The Brazilian was speaking to ESPN about life at the club, where reports are suggesting that discontent and fractions is appearing in the squad between the English-speaking members and the foreign-speaking players, but Fred has dismissed those murmurs and said there is no divide.
“The news here, they like fake news. There’s too much here. It’s a lie,” he told ESPN Brazil.
“It’s obvious that we speak Portuguese, we communicate, we have a nice friendship. I’m a good friend of Alex Telles, both on and off the field. I’ve known him for a long time. So obviously I’m going to be a little friend of his.
“But that doesn’t mean I won’t talk to Lingard, Rashford, Greenwood, Maguire, the other English people here. On the contrary. We have a super cool friendship here, a super cool dressing room, they’re all teammates.
“We’re always dancing in the locker room, whenever we have the team dinner. Now we’re not doing that because of Covid-19.”
United have come under heavy criticism from areas of the media for their recent poor performances – most recently letting a two-goal lead away to Aston Villa slip in a 2-2 draw.
Many believe that the club is once again in need of a rebuild, with Sky Sports pundit claiming he would only keep three members of the squad if he was in charge – those being: Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.
