Gareth Bale labelled ‘Welsh parasite’ by Spanish newspaper

He was also accused of ‘sucking Real Madrid’s euros’

Spanish newspaper Marca has launched a sensational attack on Real Madrid, describing him as a ‘Welsh parasite’ and accusing him of ‘sucking Real Madrid’s euros.’

Bale has been the victim of heavy criticism during his time in Spain – despite winning 14 trophies with Madrid – and is expected to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Why has Bale struggled?

The 32-year-old’s recent years at Los Blancos have been marred by constant injuries, less-than-impressive performances on the pitch and his off-pitch commitments which have angered the club’s supporters.

Marca in particular have been particularly critical of the Welshman during his Real Madrid career and hit out once again – this time more brutally than ever.

What did Marca say?

Journalist Manuel Julia Dorado shockingly compared Bale to a parasite and judging by the rest of the piece, will be keen to see the back of the 32-year-old once he leaves the club.

“The Bale parasite came from the cold and rainy Britannia,” said the start of the piece.

“He settled in Spain, at Real Madrid, where, masked, he first showed diligence and love for the guest, but then his nature led him to suck blood without giving anything in return. Well, more than blood, he sucked, and sucks, the club’s euros.

“Unlike others of its kind, such as the flea, the louse or the bedbug, the Bale parasite does not cause itching or illnesses in its host, but after sucking, it laughs and makes fun of it, showing a jocular contempt for the one from whom he lives.

“He laughs, applauds, throws himself on the ground, sings, as a kind of humiliating ceremony, which, luckily, has an expiration date, like all misfortunes.”

The article also featured an image of Bale drawn as a mosquito to showcase their displeasure at the winger, who has played just 69 minutes of football in total since August.

Bale’s future has yet to be determined yet, with the Welshman presumably weighing up his opportunities for his next move.
