He was a talented player back in the day

Gordon Ramsay announced on Friday via his social media channels that he will be returning to Soccer Aid this summer. The celebrity chef will be playing for Usain Bolt’s World XI against Robbie Williams’ England XI.

Ramsay is back to reclaim his title, and put to bed his past injury woes, having pulled out of 2016’s Soccer Aid for Unicef match due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, and being infamously tackled by Teddy Sherringham in 2012.

The Scotsman becomes the first signing for the World XI, while it has been announced that Sir Mo Farah will be playing for Robbie Williams’ England XI.

Ramsay is eager to get his boots back on:

“Ever since I had to pull out of 2016’s match, I’ve been eager to reclaim my position in the Soccer Aid World XI squad and take back the title from the England team.  It can’t be a coincidence that the last time I played, we smashed it out the park with a 4-2 win! What’s bigger than stepping out in front of 70,000+ fans at Old Trafford with the likes of Usain Bolt by my side? Bring it on!”
