Harry Kane vows to ‘give everything’ for fan who died celebrating goal

Danny Jones

Captain Kane and the Three Lions are more motivated than ever to bring football home after his passing

We recently published the gut-wrenchingly sad story about England and Chelsea fan, Charlie Naughton, who tragically passed away while celebrating Harry Kane’s goal in the historic victory against Germany.

The England captain is one of several players who became aware of the deeply sad story and took to Twitter to declare his determination and commitment to playing his heart out tomorrow and for the rest of Euro 2020.

As mentioned in his dedication, Naughton passed away after paramedics worked on him for more than three hours. Sadly, they could not manage to save his life.

Kane scored his first goal of the tournament after a tough start to the competition and will no doubt have extra motivation to keep the goals coming following this sobering reminder.

Gareth Southgate‘s men face Ukraine next in the quarter-finals: beating them would seem them reach the semi-finals in back to back tournaments and their joint-best finish since the particularly poignant Euro 96.

The spirit and belief not only around the England camp but the country, in general, seems to be stronger than ever and after overcoming a hurdle not managed since 1966, this moving story will only add more fuel to the fire.

The message is the same as last time: bring football home but this time we’re doing it for Charlie.
