Tottenham are reportedly hoping to sign Jack Grealish for an incredibly cheap price

Daniel Levy is looking to exploit Villa's money problems

Get used to hearing lots about Jack Grealish this summer

With Aston Villa missing out on promotion back to the Premier League at the back end of last season, Grealish has already been the subject of plenty of transfer gossip these last couple of weeks. Unless someone actually signs him in the very near future, we strongly suspect this will continue for a good few weeks to come…

The latest report on the 22-year-old comes courtesy of The Telegraph, with Matt Law reporting that Tottenham are readying a bid for the midfielder.

Grealish

Villa have insisted Grealish won’t be going anywhere for less than £40m, yet the report claims Daniel Levy will believe he can get him for as little as £15m given the club’s widely reported recent money issues.

Mauricio Pochettino, who now appears set to remain with Spurs despite reported interest from Real Madrid, is said to be keen on bringing Grealish to north London, identifying him as one of their key transfer targets. The report suggests that Pochettino’s proven track record for improving young footballers may help persuade him to leave his boyhood club.

Judging by the speculation surrounding Grealish since Villa’s defeat to Fulham in the Championship Play-off final last month, it’s highly unlikely that Spurs will be the only club looking to sign him. Manchester United are said to be interested too, as are Leicester City and Newcastle United.

For now though, it seems Spurs may be leading the race.
