The man covers his boots in Pritt Stick
Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday thanks to two typical Robert Lewandowski finishes and a sublime piece of individual skill from French winger Kingsley Coman.
In the end, the scoreline flattered Bayern, with Leipzig bravely pressing the Bavarians throughout and arguably producing the better chances as Manuel Neuer was forced into two world-class saves from a Yusuf Poulsen header and a one-on-one with Emil Forsberg at crucial stages in the contest.
Bayern though, as they always are, were ruthless. Particularly Lewandowski, who scored a wonderful guided header in the first half and finished a powerful run in behind the Leipzig backline with a delicate chip over the goalkeeper to put the game beyond doubt with only five minutes of normal time left.
It was, however, Coman’s goal that sealed the game for Bayern – and it’s one worthy of winning any cup final.
The 22-year-old starts the move himself, picking up the ball on the left wing and running at RB fullback Lukas Klostermann. He skips past the defender back inside, and once again past the covering midfielder Konrad Laimer before laying the ball into the supporting Thiago.
From there, Bayern work the ball out to Kimmich, who tries to play into the feet of Lewandowski with his back to goal. The move is then disrupted by Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who unfortunately slices his clearance up into the air.
The rest is all Coman. At first he shapes to shoot, as the ball looms up above him similar to the famous Zidane volley in the 2001 Champions League final.
Instead, and even with an opposition player tight either side of him, he dummies the volley (and both defenders) before bringing the ball down with an incredible trap that Zizou himself would have been proud of.
Then it’s simply one touch to get it out of his feet and another to slam it past Gulacsi and into the top right corner.
Honestly, this is a special, special finish. Watch it and watch it again until you can appreciate it fully.
