It’s the Gunner’s last season with Puma.
The Arsenal side of 2005-06 were an absolute treat.
Who can forget Van Persie levitating about twenty feet off the ground and smashing in a volley against Charlton?
Who can forget Bobby Pires trying to pass from a penalty, when only one goal ahead, and royally fucking it up?
Who can forget Thierry Henry rocking up at the Santiago Bernabéu, waltzing past the entire Madrid backline, slotting past Casillas and then gently shushing 80,000 angry Spaniards?
Who can forget the final against Barca?
But, above all else, who can forget that gorgeous maroon kit commemorating their final season at Highbury.
Officially “redcurrant” (only Arsenal could make up their own Dulux colour) the shirt was meant to be a throwback to their 1913 strip, which was their first season at the ground.
And now it appears Puma are giving the fans something special by reverting back to a darker red and gold trim, with their new training top, along with an extremely spicy black alternative.
It’s hard to be nice about Arsenal, but these look like genuinely class threads to rock up to 5-a-side on a Monday night in.
Ozil scoop passes, Xhaka thunderbolts, Xhaka man-and-ball-but-mostly-man challenges, you can do it all whilst looking every bit as smart as Bergkamp, Thierry and big Gilberto Silva did back in the day.
Here’s them smashing Middlesbrough just to get you in the mood.
