Martial has made just two starts for Manchester United this season
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has backed winger Anthony Martial to play a crucial role in helping United to turn their form around.
As per SportsMail, the Frenchman has singled out Martial after he started in the 2-0 win against Villarreal on Tuesday night, where he looked lively on several occasions.
Martial has found game time hard to come by in recent months, starting just two games this season as he began to fall out of favour under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Many have predicted that the former Monaco man would be one of the players heading for the exit door in the near future, however, with Ralf Rangnick expected to be appointed as interim manager – it may provide a lifeline for Martial to work his way back into the squad.
And Saha believes that despite United’s poor start to the season, they still have time to change their fortunes, suggesting Martial could be the catalyst to helping them.
“Because the Premier League is a marathon, I still believe they can pick up form and go on a run,” the former striker told 101greatgoals.com
“When they eventually find the right formula and things click – especially in their heads where at the minute there’s too much over thinking – those players are unstoppable when they play naturally.
“On their game, no-one can touch that front four or five. Martial, when he’s on top form, he is unplayable.”
United face Chelsea in their next game, with current caretaker manager Michael Carrick expected to take charge because of Rangnick’s work permit not being completed in time.
The German is likely to be in the dugout for United’s game against Arsenal on 2 December.
