Several fans were seen holding banners with messages such as ‘Glazers out’ as well as ‘Disgrace – Not fit to wear the shirt’ held up outside the ground.
United had increased the number of people on security at Carrington and called in police as fans lit up red smoke flares to voice their disproval of the state of their club.
The Red Devils released a statement on Friday to confirm that a protest had taken place. It said: “There was a small and peaceful protest outside the Carrington training ground today.
“We respect the opinions of fans and remain committed to strengthening our engagement with them.”
Friday’s events were building up to a much larger anti-Glazer protest at Old Trafford on Saturday, when United play Norwich City, which has been organised by a supporters group called the ‘1958 Group.’

Rangnick says he can ‘understand’ fans’ disappointment
None of the players were present during the protests and were scheduled to report to the training ground for 3pm that day however interim boss Ralf Rangnick spoke to the media shortly after the protest.
“We all know football is a game of passion and emotions, we can all understand,” he said.
“I can understand our supporters are disappointed with our standing in the table and the performance we showed at Everton, at least after we conceded that first goal.
“But I still believe our supporters are one of the best, if not the best, in England and as long as they do that protest in a peaceful way and support the team in the stadium, they have the right to express their opinion.
“I can understand that they are disappointed.”
A win for United could take them to within three points of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur – providing results go their way.
