Manchester City draw Brighton in FA Cup semi-finals

The FA Cup semi-finals will take place on April 6 and April 7

Brighton and Hove Albion have been rewarded for their comeback victory against Millwall at the New Den on Sunday with an away FA Cup semi-finals against Premier League champions Manchester City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, after their impressive victory over Manchester United, have been drawn against Watford.

Chris Hughton’s Seagulls came from 2-0 down against Millwall to win on penalties, after a Solly March free-kick drew the game level thanks to some truly awful goalkeeping from David Martin.

City themselves had a mountain to climb to make the semi-finals, after they fell 2-0 behind to Championship side Swansea City at the Liberty stadium on Saturday.

The away side pegged them back through a sumptuous goal from Bernardo Silva, before two highly contentious goals saw them through.

The first, a penalty, was deemed extremely harsh by fans and pundits alike, and the second – a header by Sergio Aguero – appeared to have been scored from an offside position.

The match did not feature VAR technology, due to the fact that it was played at a Championship stadium.

Wolves and Watford will likely be the happier of the sides after avoiding Pep Guardiola’s City machine in the draw, one which provides yet another indication of the progress made by the Hornets under new manager Javi Gracia.
