It was always going to end badly, wasn’t it?
Manchester City’s social media team marked February 14 with a special Valentine’s Day poetry competition for all their followers. Unfortunately for them, it was swiftly gatecrashed by followers of Manchester’s other football club.
‘Let’s see who’s got the best #ValentinesDay rhymes,’ a tweet from City’s official Twitter account read, encouraging followers to complete a special City-themed Valentine’s Day poem.

Spying an opportunity, some United supporters used this as a chance to remind City and their fans that their recent successes have come as a result of their extremely wealthy owners. Y’know, the sort of thing you’d expect, really.
Here’s a sample of the replies the tweet received.

With a good few hours of Valentine’s Day still remaining at the time of writing, we can almost certainly expect a few more of these before the day is done.
