Manchester United have completed a deadline day transfer.
United were not expected to add any more players to their first-team squad on the final day of the window, and it doesn’t look like they will at this late stage. However, they have wrapped up a transfer for a promising youth-team player.
Matej Kovar, a 17-year-old goalkeeper, has joined the Red Devils from FC Slovacko. The youngster is an U-18 international for the Czech Republic, and has signed a professional contract with United, subject to international clearance.
Kovar will link-up with United’s U-18 side.
Via Man United’s official websiteUnited released a short statement on their website about the transfer, which is likely to be their only piece of business on deadline day.
“Matej Kovar has joined Manchester United from FC Slovacko, subject to international clearance The 17-year-old is a talented young goalkeeper who has already appeared for Czech Republic’s Under-18s on two occasions, highlighting his promising pedigree and excellent potential. An exciting prospect, Kovar has signed a professional contract with the club and will soon join the ranks of the Academy, specifically with Kieran McKenna’s impressive Under-18s team.”
Even if United don’t make any first-team additions before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Wednesday night, they have had a productive window. Jose Mourinho managed to swap Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Alexis Sanchez, getting a world class player in exchange for a footballer he had no use for.
Daley Blind has been linked with a deadline day move to Roma. United were reportedly prepared to allow Blind to leave on a permanent deal, but the Serie A side were said to be more favourable towards a loan deal. Blind was open to the idea of leaving, but it appears he’ll remain at Old Trafford until the summer.
.@DiMarzio reporting that Roma are in talks over signing Daley Blind. Obviously not got a long-term future at Old Trafford but difficult to see him being allowed to leave, especially after Tuanzebe loan. Mourinho had said no more in and no more out.
