Most Manchester United fans agreed that Alexis Sanchez enjoyed one of his best games in a red (well, pink) shirt on Sunday.
After two defeats on the bounce, a victory at Turf Moor was imperative for Jose Mourinho and his under pressure charges, especially prior to the first international break of the season. Two goals from Romelu Lukaku helped secure the points for the visitors, but it was Sanchez who impressed with his zippy display and excellent end product.
That said, he was less than pleased when hooked off with half an hour of the game still remaining. The Chilean was replaced by Marcus Rashford in the second half and expressed his unhappiness with a petulant display on the bench, ripping his wrist straps off and flinging them to the ground. This was noted by social media and pundits alike.
Mourinho will probably welcome the passion and strength of feeling that fuelled Sanchez’s unhappiness at not playing every single second of the game, but the 29-year-old took to social media to placate any sense that he was seriously miffed following the game. A thumbs up gesture and ‘Come on United’ comment on Instagram put pay to that.
Manchester United fans will be hoping he showed more of that fighting spirit on the pitch after a display that promises the kind of form that had them salivating when he signed earlier in the year.
