“I have now decided to put a stop to all the speculation”
After weeks of rumours and speculation, Marko Arnautovic has confirmed he is staying at West Ham United.
The Austrian forward announced his intention to stay in East London in a post on his Instagram Stories.
“I guess it’s no secret that there has been an offer for me,” wrote Arnautovic. “And I have to admit that the offer was a very tempting one for me and my family.”
“I have now decided to put a stop to all the writing and speculation. I am a professional footballer, and the only thing I know in life is to play football.”
“It’s clear that London and West Ham United feels like home for me and I hope the West Ham fans have always seen that. The club has pointed in the right direction since I joined and therefore I want to put the offer aside, help the club to climb as high as possible in the table and try to win the Cup.”
“Let’s focus on the rest of the season together and let them bubbles fly. COYI.”
Earlier on Friday, it was reported that West Ham United were willing to let him leave the club for a £50 million price tag.
Prior to the announcement, Arnautovic stoked the rumours with an Instagram Story saying “News very soon…” The news however turned out to be what Hammers fans wanted to hear.
Arnautovic was excluded from the Hammers 2-0 loss to Bournemouth last weekend.
However, a potential deal to China looked to have collapsed with Arnautovic returning to West Ham training earlier this week.
