Not a bad start to his Arsenal career.
Everton were so bad that their own supporters walked out before the half-time whistle. Arsenal were good.
In fact, the Gunners were very, very good as they ran out 5-1 winners but as we’ve frequently seen with Wenger’s men, games like this are all too fleeting when measured against their pursuit for that rarest of things, consistency.
Aaron Ramsey’s superb hat-trick will deservedly take the headlines but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan introduced themselves to the Emirates in some style.
Aubameyang scored Arsenal’s fourth while Mkhitaryan laid on three assists – two for Ramsey and one for his former Dortmund team-mate – as Wenger’s side continued their exceptional run of form at home.
Koscielny’s header completed the scoring for the Gunners in their 5-1 victory as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s strike was the most pointless of consolation goals.
Despite the fact that Arsenal still have a five-point gap to make up to the top four, the win against Everton will offer their fans some hope that Wenger’s side can bridge the gap.
This being said, there’s no denying that the Armenian playmaker has hit the ground running.
It’s no secret that Mkhitaryan wasn’t Jose Mourinho’s favourite player and on a day where Alexis Sanchez scored his first goal for United, fans of both clubs seem relatively content with what they’ve seen so far of their new signings.
Of course, when Mkhitaryan left Old Trafford, he aimed a parting shot at Mourinho. “I’ve known him (Wenger) for a long time and of course it was not very difficult to make this decision to come to Arsenal, because I think the way that Arsenal play makes it a dream for every player to come here and play offensive football,” he said.
This being said, football fans think they’ve already noticed an instant change in Mkhitaryan’s performance and they know the reason why.
Granted, one game doesn’t justify a transfer, but the signs are good.
Whether or not Mourinho’s handling of the player was justified, that remains to be seen.

MkhitaryanWish Jose Mourinho had not rated me as an attacking midfielder. Might have been all the motivation I needed to win the Ballon d'Or.

Mkhitaryan working so so hard for the team. Wonder what Jose had against him

Three assists for Henrikh Mkhitaryan tonight. Another talented player Jose Mourinho got rid off because he couldn't use/bring out the best in him. Great addition to the Gunners he is.

Would much preferred if Mourinho had gone to Arsenal instead of Mkhitaryan….
3 debut assists…?! He is clearly a confidence player and Jose ruined his confidence! His treatment of players is shambolic! #mufc pic.twitter.com/24fSWJZpwR— Michael Dickson (@MIKEDICKS0N) February 3, 2018
