Multiple attempts were made to get to Salah
Mohamed Salah had to be escorted off the pitch by military officers after he was targeted by pitch invaders during Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Egypt ran out as 2-0 winners on Sunday as former Aston Villa winger Trezeguet scored both goals to secure two wins from two during the international break.
Despite the impressive performance, their win was marred by unsavoury scenes late on as a group of Sierra Leone supporters invaded the pitch.
Video footage below revealed that a number of opposition fans threw punches as they tried to get to Salah and his Egyptian teammates.

Security staff quickly intervened and were thankfully able to pull Salah and co away safely without anyone getting hurt.

The Express claimed that some of the Sierra Leone fans who had managed to get onto the pitch had intentions “to attack” Salah for reasons that “remain unknown”.
In one of the images that surfaced online, a fan can be seen wearing a Manchester City shirt.

Salah’s latest run-in comes just days after he clashed with an opposition player during Egypt’s game against Djibouti.
The 31-year-old scored four times in the 6-0 win, making him Egypt’s all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup qualifiers.
