And because they are both #goodlads, they made sure to hug each and every single person in the room
Liverpool have won their sixth Champions League, you don’t need me to tell you this, but they have, and I must, if only to give this article the context it needs for the random middle-aged man from Denver opening up Internet Explorer at an internet cafe and clicking on this by accident instead of some hentai.
Anyway, Liverpool’s Dutch duo Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum, two of their most important players this season, rejoined their international teammates yesterday in preparation for the UEFA Nations League. And just because I know you were about to open a new tab and check, they play England on Thursday, June 4.
Led by none other than former Manchester United player Memphis Depay (and former Everton boss Ronald Koeman lurking in the background) the pair are given a hero’s reception by their Netherlands teammates. It’s all very heartwarming.
Important things to note from this video:
– How deep Virgil van Dijk’s ‘haha’ laugh is as he walks through the revolving hotel doors. Seriously, whack the sound up. Fucking Barry White over here
– Matthijs De Ligt and Frenkie De Jong pretending to be happy for them but very clearly still looking a bit miffed that it could have been them
– Gini Wijnaldum just generally being extremely adorable
– Just how into it Depay is. Like you’d think he had won the damn thing himself

And if that hasn’t quenched your thirst for van Dijk and Wijnaldum buddy-comedy content, then please do take a second to watch Gini drop his phone off the Liverpool trophy parade bus, have it handed back to him, then look absolutely ecstatic finding out it still works again.
Like I said, adorable. And good at football. And please be kind to England, lads. Or we’ll call Jack Grealish up. And then you’re all fucked.
