He’s constantly linked with a move away
Paul Pogba is one of football’s most enigmatic talents. While his natural ability is evident, very seldom have Manchester United seen him perform at his highest level.
Whether that is due to José Mourinho deploying the wrong system, one that shackles him, or due to Pogba’s reluctance to work hard off the ball and remain disciplined, is up for debate.
What we can all agree on is that Pogba’s move to United hasn’t quite gone to plan. He’s by no means been a Bébé level flop, but he has not lived up to his £89m price tag. In fairness, he does not control the market forces.
Nevertheless, due to his inconsistent form, he has consistently been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Paris Saint-Germain one of the clubs who seem keen to sign him.
Speaking on French TV programme Canal Football Club, Pogba was keen to play down any rumours of his exit.
“For now I’m at Man Utd, I really only think about the present. Transfers are not in my head.”
When asked about the links to PSG, he said: “You know, if I listened to everyone, I would be everywhere.”
He also opened up about his relationship with Mourinho, after reports suggested the pair do not see eye to eye.
“I do not have any problem with Mourinho,” Pogba said. “I do not think he does either, he’s the coach, he’s going to make choices and I as a player, I accept him. That is all.”
Pogba trotted out the classic lines, as any sensible player would, suggesting that he’s happy and isn’t wishing for a move. But should he have a good World Cup and PSG come in with a bid of around double what United paid for him, don’t be surprised to see him playing alongside Neymar next season.
