‘What he say f**k me for?!’
Paul Scholes’ son took a cheeky dig at England boss Gareth Southgate following his recent conversation with Kobbie Mainoo.
Southgate had initially opted to leave the Manchester United midfielder out of his squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium before calling him up a few days later.
Mainoo admitted that it hadn’t “sunk in” when asked for his initial reaction and in the latest YouTube video documenting the England arrivals, Southgate could be seen having a conversation with the 18-year-old.
This week has also seen the Three Lions boss linked with taking over Erik ten Hag at Man United and is reportedly Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s number one target.
But Scholes’ son, Arron, couldn’t resist using the recent speculation to take a little swipe at Southgate.
Posting to X, Arron shared the image of the two in conversation with the response: “Find a new club I’m signing Kalvin Phillips in the summer.”
Phillips’ Euros place in doubt?
The Kalvin Phillips name drop refers to Southgate’s trusted faith in the midfielder.
In the past, Phillips has been a regular in the England squad and has been an important cog in Southgate’s England machine that has seen them reach a World Cup semi final and the final of Euro 2020 under his watch.
But after leaving Manchester City to join West Ham on loan in order to get more game time ahead of this summer in Germany, things haven’t gone to plan.

Phillips hasn’t looked up to speed and was even sent off against Nottingham Forest and his poor run of form has culminated in him losing his place in the squad for this month’s friendlies.
