We wish Luke Berry a speedy recovery.
Luton Town’s League Two game against Colchester United was just moments old when Berry’s leg was seemingly broken badly in an awkward tackle.
Berry’s leg was caught after he went to ground to challenge for the ball and it immediately became clear that the injury was a serious one.
After the Luton medical team acknowledged the severity of the injury, a decision was made to pull both sets of players off the pitch so that the midfielder could receive treatment.
Terrible injury to #LutonTown player Luke Berry in their game at #Colu! Doesn’t look good. Players called off. From my seat a bad leg break of some description! @SkySportsNews @BBCSport pic.twitter.com/HM9x988hPu

A nine-minute delay followed as Berry was made as comfortable as possible and he was taken straight to hospital when Luke Gambin replaced him.
The teams were allowed time to warm up again before the game was restarted although Luton’s players were understandably shaken by the injury to their teammate as they conceded two goals in the opening half hour.
You can see Luke Berry’s leg on the TV pictures. There’s no way to say it without being graphic, but it is hanging the wrong way 😔

The suspected leg break is expected to keep Berry, who signed for Luton last summer, out of action for several months.
Well-wishes have been pouring in for the unfortunate midfielder as he begins a lengthy recovery process.
