They’ve come a long way
It is the international break this weekend – which also means that Saturday is Non-League Day.
The break from regular Premier League and Championship fixtures can be crushingly boring for the average football fan. So the idea is to encourage you to get arse down to your local side and watch some proper football for a change, instead of [extremely ‘yer da’ voice] some overpaid prima donnas roll around on the floor for 90 minutes.
You get to see so many great things at a semi-professional game. Big headers. Hoofs. Dogs on the touchline. All magical things.
And you might also get to see some young kid who’ll go on to play at a much higher level.
So here are ten guys who have done exactly that. Some were just out on loan, whereas others slipped through traditional youth systems of bigger clubs, but kept plugging away until they got their shot.
All you have to do is name the non-league side they played for.
Note: The eagle-eyes of you out there might notice that some of these clubs have crept back into the Football League, but at the time the player in question played for them, they were all below the fourth tier of English football.
