‘He will leave in the summer’
Ralf Rangnick has told a Manchester United supporter that Jesse Lingard is not a part of his plans and will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Lingard has six months left on his contract and rejected the offer of a new deal back in November. During the transfer window he has actively looked to leave the club.
Several clubs have signalled an interest in the 29-year-old, including the likes of West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur – both of whom United reportedly rejected proposals from – with Newcastle United the most keen.
The Magpies want to bring Lingard on loan and made an offer of £6m. However, United are said to be reluctant to accept and would prefer a fee in the region of £15m, which has put Newcastle off – knowing they can sign him in six months for free.
Despite Lingard not being a part of the long-term vision at Old Trafford, interim boss Rangnick confirmed that he will remain at the club until the end of this current campaign.
In a video surfacing on social media, a supporter can be heard pleading to the German to keep Lingard at the club. He can be heard saying: “Please, he’s my favourite player, he’s got United in his head.”

Despite the pleas, the 63-year-old responded rather bluntly, to the disappointment of the fan, by confirming the 29-year-old would move onto pastures new.
“He will leave in the summer,” Rangnick replied.
The news will also likely come as a disappointment to Lingard, who has reportedly become angered at the ‘lack of respect’ his boyhood club have shown towards him while searches for a new club.
Lingard is currently with the United squad in Dubai during the Premier League’s one-week winter break.
