He is a wanted man
It looks like Robert Lewandowski’s time in Germany will soon come to an end, as he has reportedly rejected a contract renewal with Bayern Munich, hoping for a move away.
It seemed that Chelsea were frontrunners in the race to sign the Poland international but Sky Germany have now reported that the forward is in talks with Real Madrid. They have reported that Jose Angel Sanchez, the general director of Real Madrid, is tasked with bringing the player to the Santiago Bernabeu.
There have been loose links between Lewandowski and Madrid in the past but they have never materialised. This time, that could be different, as Madrid seem set to overhaul their squad after a disappointing season. Karim Benzema could well be on his way out which would make room for Lewandowski in Madrid’s front line.
Playing up front for Madrid requires more than goals, though. Linking up well with Ronaldo is of great importance and while Lewandowski has always been the fulcrum of Bayern and before them, Dortmund’s attack, he is more than capable of adjusting his game.
Harry Kane is another world class forward constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid, and the club are no doubt interested, but it will be a hard task to prise him away from Tottenham Hotspur, as Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he is not for sale at any price.
Pochettino and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy are thought to be on the same wavelength when it comes to transfer strategy, and neither of them plan to lose their talisman as they begin a new era in their new stadium.
