His long-touted move looks it might finally be happening
He has been linked with a move away from Anfield since the beginning of the season and it now appears that Liverpool’s Emre Can could well be on his way after reports in the Italian media suggested that a deal to take the German international to Juventus has been agreed.
The former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he is believed to have spent much of the season weighing up offers from some of Europe’s top clubs, as well as an offer to extend his contract at Merseyside.
According to a report in Italian sports daily La Gazzette dello Sport which was translated by CalcioMercato, the 24-year-old has agreed to join Massimilliano Allegri’s side in the summer, reportedly rejecting advances from Paris Saint-Germain in the process.
The report states that Can has agreed a five-year contract worth €30 million with the Old Lady, who currently lead Napoli by four points in the battle for the Serie A title.
Can has played predominantly through the centre of midfield since joining Liverpool from Leverkusen in 2014, but has also featured in defence.
While Liverpool tried to convince him to stay and will likely be disappointed to see him leave, the blow will no doubt be softened by the upcoming arrival of Red Bull Leipzig star Naby Keita, who will join in the summer for a fee reported to be £48 million.
