Younger Feyenoord supporters quickly found out why Robin van Persie remains such a fan favourite for the Eredivisie side.
14 years after leaving Feyenoord for Arsenal, Van Persie returned to the De Kuip Stadium in the January transfer window and, on Thursday night, the 34-year-old scored the first goal of his second spell with his boyhood club.
After agreeing to cancel his contract with Turkish side Fenerbahce, Van Persie signed with Feyenoord on an 18-month deal and there remains no doubt that he’s still got it.

After replacing Jens Toornstra in the 78th minute of Thursday’s clash with FC Groningen, RVP needed just 50 seconds to find the net with a stunning strike from the edge of the box.
Van Persie’s goalscoring has never been in doubt, having scored 249 goals in 552 appearances throughout his club career.
“I have made a fantastic journey since leaving Feyenoord 14 years ago, but I’m happy to return now,” Van Persie said after sealing his move.
“I hope to bring a lot to this team, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s possible.”
