The World Cup is a matter of weeks away, and what better way to raise excitement levels than a nice friendly ‘death sentence’ from a bunch of Russian hooligans?
They take their football hooliganism very seriously over in Russia, so much so that the Daily Express report that Ultras are even using social network VKontakte to help organise who to kick the shit out of and when. Lovely stuff.
This appears to be particularly bad news for England fans. One of the groups set up by hooligans on the site features a number of discussion boards, with one of the conversations reportedly focusing on ‘luring England fans’ to Reutov, a small town near Moscow, where they would be easier targets.
This news follows a separate story – also run by The Express – which claimed Russian and Argentine fans were plotting to unite against England fans and had even held discussions about the matter in South America.
Fifa have, however, recently released a statement claiming they’re confident the host nation will be able to guarantee football fans’ security throughout the tournament.
Although the majority of English fans that do make the trip to Russia will be doing so simply to watch the football, the recent scenes before the Three Lions’ friendly match with the Netherlands in Amsterdam served as a reminder that some ‘fans’ from these shores don’t exactly do themselves any favours when trying to steer clear of trouble.
