The Gang Has (Officially) Bought A Football Club
Wrexham AFC have released a video on their Twitter account featuring actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney which confirms the pair’s takeover of the Welsh club.
The video, which features charmingly low production values, shows the duo rather confused promoting Wrexham’s primary sponsor, Ifor Williams Trailers, before thanking the club’s supporters’ trust for voting in favour of their takeover.
A message from our owners-elect…
Welcome to Wrexham AFC, @RMcElhenney and @VancityReynolds 🥳

Reynolds and McElhenney have been linked with a takeover of the National League club for a number of months, after both posted rather cryptic – if unsubtle – hints about the prospect earlier this year.
Last month, the club issued a statement confirming their interest, before announcing the further steps necessary for their takeover bid to be reviewed.
In the end, more than 90 percent of the trust voted in favour of the takeover.
“The Wrexham Supporters Trust Board would like to thank all members who took the time to vote and take part in the process relating to the Extraordinary Ballot,” read a statement. “There was a significant turnout for the ballot at 91.5 percent.
“Subject to final agreement, league and FA confirmation the RR McReynolds Company, LLC will take 100% control of Wrexham Football Club Limited from the WST. Both parties will now proceed with finalising the details of the takeover, and we will update Wrexham supporters as soon as we can.
“The Wrexham Supporters Trust Board would like to thank Mr Rob McElhenney and Mr Ryan Reynolds, and their advisors Inner Circle Sports and Walker Morris, for their professional and considered approach and for the time they have already put into the process. As Wrexham supporters, we would like to wish them the very best of luck in charge of our Football Club and look forward to what the future brings.”
Welcome to Wrexham 🇺🇸🏴❤️

Exactly what their plans for the club are remain to be seen, but judging by the replies to the news, fans of the club are extremely excited about the news.
