Mo Salah’s agent takes to Twitter to shut down report linking him with Barcelona

Liverpool fans will absolutely love this

Liverpool fans, you’ve been here before. Lots.

Yet again, reports are doing the rounds that one of your team’s most exciting attacking talents is being linked with a move to one of Spain’s big two.

Barely 24 hours after reports from France claimed Sadio Mane had agreed a deal to join Real Madrid prior to Zinedine Zidane’s resignation, AS were claiming Mo Salah might be off to Barcelona.

With Barca’s pursuit of Antoine Griezmann seemingly hitting the buffers, the Spanish outlet suggested Barca might consider turning their attentions to trying to land the Egyptian. Not only that, they went as far as claiming that Salah’s representatives had already offered him to the Spanish champions and were willing to open negotiations.

As often proves to be the case with such rumours, there’s nothing for anyone connected to Liverpool to lose sleep over. Certainly not when you look at how Salah’s representative responded to the report.

Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s agent and lawyer, stumbled across AS’s report and wasted little time in pouring cold water over their claims. Quoting a tweet containing a link to the story, he responded by making clear Salah hadn’t been offered to Barca. He signed off by adding that AS ‘need better sources’.

That’s the end of that one then.

Salah is currently recuperating from the shoulder injury he picked up in the Champions League final. Having played a pivotal role in helping Liverpool to get within touching distance of their sixth European Cup, he left the field in tears after landing awkwardly following a tangle with Sergio Ramos.

Although the injury initially appeared to jeopardise his chances of participating for Egypt in this summer’s World Cup – their first appearance at the tournament since 1990 – it was announced last week that he was making good progress and on schedule to be back in action in time.
