Neither of these guys are people you’d want to mess with
Earlier this week, Diego Maradona criticised Spain’s Sergio Ramos, saying he wasn’t as good as Atletico and Uruguay centre back Diego Godin.
Much like Maradona, Ramos is not really the type to shy away from something like this.
On Wednesday, Spain narrowly beat Iran 1-0, in a hard fought match that saw the Iranians pull out a heroic performances against the former world champions.
And after the match, Ramos took the opportunity to hit back, claiming that Maradona wasn’t even Argentina’s best ever player.
“In Argentina they know that Maradona is light years away from the best Argentine player in history, which for me is Lionel Messi.”
Oh, that’s harsh.
In his defence, Diego Maradona scored 34 goals in 91 appearances for the Argentinian national side and lifted the World Cup with his country in 1986. He then went on to manager Argentina from November 2008 and July 2010.
He has also been a frequent face at the World Cup, being seen in the crowd during Argentina’s opener against Iceland.
