Tottenham have made Giovani Lo Celso their top transfer target this summer
Although their season is still not over, Spurs are not holding back in kickstarting their summer transfer business. The North London side have outed Lo Celso as their top target.
The Real Betis man has been in impressive form this season, with 16 goals and six assists to his name.
Lo Celso initially joined Betis from PSG on a season-long loan last summer, but the Seville-based side exercised an option to buy him for €22 million in April.
He’s also been named in Argentina’s squad for the upcoming Copa America tournament, beginning on 14th June in Brazil.
If the deal goes ahead, Lo Celso will become Spurs’ first signing since Lucas Moura. Moura joined the club from PSG in January 2018 for £23 million.
A potential drawback could be found in the form of the transfer fee. Tottenham have lodged a £53 million bid, but it is believed to be some way off Betis’ £88 million valuation of the Argentine.
The 23-year-old began his career at Rosario Central in his native Argentina, coming through the side’s youth academy. Rosario has an illustrious footballing history, and is where other notable names such as Angel Di Maria,
Lo Celso was snapped up by PSG in 2016 for £8.5 million, but struggled for game time in Paris. He returned to Rosario on loan in 2016, before joining Betis on loan in 2018.
Tottenham will be hoping to end their season with silverware this Saturday as they take on Liverpool in the Champions League Final.
Spurs’ chances of success have been bolstered by the news that star striker Harry Kane will be fit following an ankle injury.
