Steven Gerrard is set to depart Liverpool for a second time.
After days of speculation, the Merseyside club’s former captain was confirmed as the next Rangers manager on Friday, signing a four-year contract with the Glasgow club.
Gerrard returned to Liverpool in January 2017 after bringing his playing career to an end after a short stint with Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer. Since then, he has been a coach in the club’s academy setup.
Speaking at his press conference at Ibrox on Friday, Gerrard confirmed he will continue in his role at Liverpool for the final days of the season, officially becoming Rangers boss on June 1. He also added that Gary McAllister, once his teammate at Anfield, would be joining him in Glasgow as his assistant.
Although Gerrard did not name anyone else who would be part of his new-look backroom staff in Scotland, it has now emerged he intends to take Michael Beale to Rangers with him. As reported by the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce, Beale, one of the Merseyside club’s academy coaches and former manager of their Under-23 side, is set to join Gerrard in Glasgow.

Beale has departed Liverpool before, leaving to take up a fresh challenge in Brazil in December 2016. He returned to the club nine months later and had been working as the club’s head of coaching for the foundation phase.
At this stage his role at Rangers is unclear.
