Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to make his England debut in tomorrow’s friendly against Costa Rica.

The Liverpool right-back was a breakthrough star in the Premier League this season and was a surprise call-up to the World Cup squad, with Gareth Southgate moving Kyle Walker into central defence.

Alexander-Arnold played in the Champions League final for Liverpool, which they lost to Real Madrid 3-1.

Jack Butland is also expected to start in goal, with other fringe players being given the chance to impress from the start as well.

England’s first match in the World Cup will be on Monday 18th June against Tunisia, and Southgate says there are places up for grabs. One would assume right wing-back is one of them. Should Alexander-Arnold impress against Costa Rica, Kieran Trippier could lose his place.
