As far as Champions League final goals go, this has to be the weirdest of the lot.
Real Madrid took a lead in Kiev through Karim Benzema in truly bizarre fashion early in the second half. With a ball lofted over the top reaching Loris Karius in the Liverpool goal it seemed any Real Madrid threat had passed.
Then, it happened.
With Karius looking to roll the ball out to one of his teammates, Benzema stuck out a foot in the faint hope it might intercept the throw. It not only did that, it diverted it into the empty goal…
It has to be seen to be believed…
Oh my word! 😮
A disaster for Loris Karius!

Karius’ blushes were spared to an extent minutes later when Sadio Mane drew them level, but Gareth Bale then restored Real’s lead with a quite incredible acrobatic effort minutes after coming on from the bench.
