Nothing’s official yet about Emre Can’s Liverpool future.
This said, with the German midfielder now in this final months of his contract at Anfield, the writing appears to be very much on the wall. Rumours of a move to Juventus have swirled for months, and any faint hopes of Can staying put on Merseyside appear to have been extinguished by Steven Gerrard on Wednesday night.
On pundit duty for BT Sport ahead of the Reds’ Champions League meeting with Porto, Gerrard appeared to confirm what most of the club’s supporters already suspected: Can will leave.
Discussing whether or not Jordan Henderson will be a regular fixture in the Liverpool midfield when Naby Keita arrives from Red Bull Leipzig in the summer, the former Liverpool captain said: “Well you’ll have to wait and see what happens because Emre Can’s leaving and Keita’s coming in.
“But Keita is a No 8, Keita is a dribbler, and a runner.
“But the way he [Jurgen Klopp] plays he plays 4-3-3 more often than not. So you can accommodate a Henderson and a Keita.”
Plenty of Liverpool fans were quick to pick up on the comment.
Oh dear… Stevie G hasn’t just confirmed the future of Emre Can has he? https://t.co/DDr5xWj7Mb

Can, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen four years ago, missed the game with Porto due to suspension.
