Man City should be grateful to the Baggies after their result today
Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions today after West Brom’s victory over Manchester United gave City a 16 point cushion over United and thus made it mathematically impossible for them to be caught with just five league games remaining.
Nobody expected this result, so it was a nice surprise for City to become champions one week earlier than they had anticipated, and for that they owe thanks to West Brom, who made sure they knew that.
The Baggies official Twitter account tweeted a graphic on the full time whistle showing the score accompanied by a photograph of Jay Rodriguez celebrating his goal. “You’re welcome, @ManCity” was the phrase the captioned this image.

This result will not have any significant effect on the league table beyond placing the title in City’s hands. It is almost certainly too little too late for West Brom, who look doomed to relegation. But the travelling fans will welcome the reward for their dedication.
United now will look to secure second place and build on a slightly disappointing season which saw José Mourinho struggle to get the most out of a very talented squad.
The tweet certainly ruffled the feathers of a few United fans though, who were quick to remind the Baggies of their impending fate.
