As a member of some of Sir Alex Ferguson’s most exciting Manchester United squads, Andrei Kanchelskis knows entertainment when he sees it.
And the former Russia international is most certainly not a fan of Louis van Gaal’s tactics, which have led to three goalless draws in succession and seen fans turn on the Dutch coach.
Kanchelskis, who won the league with United in 1992/93 and 1993/94, was hugely underwhelmed during the 1-1 Champions League draw against CSKA Moscow.
“I was at the stadium and I was surprised how disgustingly United played in the first half,” the ex-winger told Russian publicaton Sport Express.
“Van Gaal is a good specialist, but it seems to me he is not right for Manchester United,” he added.
“It seems that he does not know what he wants, refusing players such as Di Maria, Falcao, Van Persie…while there are no creative players. With no one to attack the flanks, and Rooney is on dry rations.”
United take on CSKA at Old Trafford knowing that defeat will see them slip out of the qualification spots in their Champions League group.
