Frank Lampard racks up enormous bar bill after Derby County beat Leeds United

Celebrations worthy of a play-off win

When Derby County defeated Leeds United 4-2 at Elland Road on Wednesday evening to seal their place in the play-off final, you could tell that big celebrations were coming.

After the two sides’ rather interesting relationship over the 2018/19 season – involving spygate and all that went with it – it was not surprising to see Frank Lampard’s side soak it all in.

From mocking their defeated opponents with their brilliant spygate celebrations, to singing that song about Frank Lampard crying, they all absolutely lapped it up, and rightly so.

Unsurprisingly, the celebrations didn’t end on the pitch, with Derby’s team heading to King’s Head pub in Leeds later in the night to truly celebrate.

Once there, according to a person who was in attendance, Frank Lampard put his card behind the bar and sorted out his squad with more than enough drinks for the night.

He spent £2,800 on 209 beers, 75 Jagermeisters and 64 shots of Sambuca, as well as a solitary glass of Diet Coke.

The pub posted a video of the celebrations on Facebook, with the caption: “Absolute pleasure to celebrate the victory with the team.”

Derby do have one more match this season, the rather imposing figures of Aston Villa at Wembley on May 27. One suspects that if they win that one Lampard’s bar tab will be a lot higher.
