Having watched their side lose a penalty shoot-out after failing to score in 120 minutes of football against lower league opposition, someone has decided that it’s time to crack open the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’s coming back’ rumours once again.
We already learned this week that the club’s former number seven is set to play a part in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial, but could it really be that Ronaldo is set to return on a more permanent basis?
The rumours stem from comments made by Sheffield Wednesday’s Jose Semedo. As can be seen from the tweet below, Semedo, who also used to play for Sporting Lisbon, recently holidayed with Ronaldo.

Speaking to Talksport after his team’s 3-0 Capital One Cup victory over Arsenal, Semedo hinted that a return to England is possible.
“He is very happy at Real Madrid and he loves English football, he loves English people and deep down I think he will come back to England.
“He doesn’t want to finish his career without coming back to England.
“He said he would wish Real Madrid is in England, but that is not possible so I believe he will end his career in English football.”
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be returning to United, but judging by their showing against Middlesbrough, they could use someone who can take a penalty.
