Gareth Bale’s agent can’t beĀ helping the Welshman’s standing in the Real Madrid dressing room.
Jonathan Barnett has made two outlandish claims about Cristiano Ronaldo – one of which is a ridiculous factual error, the other so off the mark it’s laughable.
“I think in the next two or three years I think he’s [Bale] going to be seen as the best player in the world,” Barnett said this week. “He wants to win the Ballon d’Or and I think he’s got a great chance.
“You have [Cristiano] Ronaldo, who is getting to the end of his career, and [Lionel] Messi as well.”
Hold on, Jonathan, can you repeat that please?
“You have Ronaldo, who is getting to the end of his career.”
Considering he’s still only 30, it’s ridiculous to claim thatĀ Ronaldo – one the most dedicated athletes in the world, who has avoided serious injury and maintained an impossibly high level of form – is “gettingĀ to the end of his career”.
It appears BarnettĀ hasn’t exactly followed Ronaldo’s career with much interest, though, as he then claimed the former Man United starĀ has been at Real Madrid for 10 years.
Yep, that’ll be the same Ronaldo who signed in 2009…
